What TV shows on DVD do you already own?Egad, this'll be a tough one...
My So-Called Life Band of Brothers (I think it's the gift my girlfriend hinted at, so I'm listing it ) Batman: The Legend Begins Batman Superman Movie (three episodes combined) Batman Beyond (pilot epi + three episodes more) Battlestar Galactica (okay, it's the theatrical version of the tv pilot) Justice League Dr. Who: Remembrance of the Daleks All of The Prisoner Cosmos (Carl Sagan) Lain Eva Niea_7 1 (both Japanese and American editions) Joseph Campbell: The Power of Myth Ken Burns: Baseball Ken Burns: Mark Twain Ken Burns: Frank Lloyd Wright (must... get... Civil ... War) The Big O (anime): 1-4 The Tenth Kingdom Stephen King's Storm of the Century MASH season 1 (I'll get season 2 when the third is released) My wish list are two sets that don't exist: Relativity (of course) and Neverwhere (c'mon BBC! get moving!) -g
I know, what is up with Neverwhere??? I think the VHS is OOP too. Sucks Also i see you like NieA_7 , you should check out Haibane Renmei new show by Abe Yoshitoshi. I've only watched 2 eps so far (only have 1-4) but it is amazing. It is unlike Lain and more similiar to NieA, but still not the same. AnimeNFO page about it I've been wanting Neverwhere for years. I have it on tape and it's a great series. I'm hoping that a DVD release isn't being held up because of the lame version Hollywood is planning on making.
I'm going to look into Haibane Renmei, because I like the sound of it. Truthfully, Niea_7 didn't thrill me the way Lain did, but I love Abe's style. Thanks for the info! -g
NieA_7 is a very different show than Lain, and I think that turned off a lot of people expecting a Lain clone. If you look at it for what it is, a few days of a girls life, and not as what is expected of ABe, you will see a brilliant show with some great characters. In some ways I like NieA_7 better than i like Lain, in other ways I don't. But so far it is shaping up that I will like Haibane Renmei more than I like either of the other two. Have to see where the series goes. As far as Neverwhere goes. Well if it was being held up because of Hollywood that would only really effect the R1 market. The UK could and should release a DVD of it. They would make double on it, people would buy it (both R1ers and R2ers) and then if/when the US releases it's version peopel would buy that too. I fear all of the Gaiman projects in hollywood right now. Good Omens has the best possibility of being great IF it is ever allowed to come to life. Sandman from what I've read about it seems like it is going to suck. Gaiman needs his freedom, but I don't think he will get it. I would be interested in an American Gods movie. I think that would be pretty cool, but you never know with hollywood. neverwhere on DVD - funny you should say that, I'll keep you posted.

I agree that Lain is very different than Niea_7, and I'll admit that I was expecting more of the same, only a little lighter in tone. It's a good show, and I've enjoyed it, but I guess I lean more towards the darker stuff.
Nah, I take it back. I loved Tenchi in Tokyo as much as I loved Lain. Oh, never mind. I think any release of Neverwhere was decided upon when Dimension bought the rights to the show, but that's just a guess. If the Beeb is waiting on an R2 release while hoping to cash in on the money made from the pathetic American version, they're going to in for a disappointment because at this point, I don't see it getting out of development hell. I have no idea how many drafts Gaiman has written at this point. I'm dreading the WB/Jon Peters production of The Sandman. If it's ever made, it'll be nothing like the comic, and not worthy of being associated to such a fine comic. -g
